"Zorua and his mother Zoroark were abducted in Unova by the film's antagonist, businessman Grings Kōdai. By threatening Zorua's safety, Kōdai blackmailed Zoroark into attacking Crown City in the guises of Raikou, Entei and Suicune. Zorua managed to escape from Kōdai's ship, however, and met up with Ash and his friends, telling them that it was looking for his "Maa".
